Meet Our Partner Farm: Denny's Grass-fed Beef
Updated: Sep 25
Since the start of Tallow Plantiful Apothecary in 2018, one of our highest priorities has been sourcing tallow that meets our high standards. It must be local to the Midwest, 100% grass-fed and finished, and humanely raised every day of its life. We believe that the quality of each ingredient we pour into our skin care is important, but none more so than the tallow.
And since we cannot raise the cattle ourselves, we searched all over the Midwest to find the perfect partner farms. Today, we want to share with you one of them.
Denny's Grass-fed Beef
Driving into Denny Family Farm feels like leaving the rest of the world behind. The rolling hills are lush and teeming with life. Located in southern Indiana, just outside of a small town called Pekin, Denny's own 80 acres and rents an additional 140 acres of lush Indiana farmland. The farm has been in the Denny family for 5 generations and is currently owned and operated by John and Christina Denny and their beautiful family.
We began our partnership with John and Christina in early 2023. We started a project to find 100% grass-fed and finished farms after outgrowing the farms we had been partnering with since beginning the company. We called them up, they invited us down to the farm and showed us around. After spending a lovely afternoon together and being gifted fresh farm produce and purchasing a whole trunk full of suet, we knew Denny's Grass-fed Beef checked all the boxes. They were farming the right way, farming in a way that adhered to our company's mission statement and values.
One of the things we love most about Denny Family Farms is there ever-persistent determination to raise 100% grass-fed and finished beef. Their herds never eat a single grain of grain! Which means the Denny Family works extra hard during the summer months to grow and harvest enough grasses and legumes to keep their cattle well fed with high quality forage all winter long.
Why does 100% grass-fed and finished beef matter so much?
For you: Because how an animal is raised matters. Cattle that are 100% grass-fed and finished spend their lives eating the diet they were naturally meant to eat, while thoughtful breeding and raising practices create just the right balance of meat and fat. At Denny Family Farm, that means beautifully marbled beef that’s tender, flavorful, and raised with care from pasture to plate.
For us: Because we believe the quality of our skincare begins long before the tallow ever reaches our workshop. Choosing 100% grass-fed and finished tallow means starting with a thoughtfully raised, carefully sourced ingredient that aligns with our commitment to knowing exactly where our products come from. And Denny's makes that commitment.

We hope you’ll take a few minutes to check out Denny Family Farm and learn a little more about why we love working with them so much. And while we may be a little partial to their tallow, their incredible, pasture-raised beef deserves a place at your table, too. Supporting farms like Denny’s means knowing where your food comes from, knowing the people behind it, and choosing something that was raised with care from pasture to plate.
